Monday 6th July: Orange Wind Warning: An Orange Wind Warning is in place for the entire West Coast south of Westport, with winds of up to 130 km/h expected until 9:00 am tomorrow morning. This includes the West Coast Wilderness Trail. While the trail remains open, riding this is not recommended. Strong winds may bring down trees and create hazardous riding conditions. The trail conditions will be assessed once the weather event has passed and updates on any issues or closures will be provided as soon as possible.
Trail Alert: Monday 06 July for approximately 5 weeks; A portion of the Trail down by the Greymouth wharf adjacent the Grey River will be closed to enable the completion of critical Stopbank upgrade works. A detour is in place. Please see the map below.
Totara Bridge Closure: Due to the structural condition of the Totara Bridge it has had to be closed. Riders are able to ride down to the bridge from either side but are not be able to cross it as barriers will be in place. This is an unfortunate situation that is outside the control of the Westland District Council and the Council apologises for any inconvenience. Alternative options are being explored.
